Λοιπόν Jim, οι Sixty Watt Shaman είναι πίσω στη δράση. Τι συνέβη και η μπάντα διασπάστηκε τότε;
Μπορούμε λοιπόν, να πούμε ότι ήταν ένα διάλειμμα;
Ποιος ήταν ο λόγος που τα μέλη της μπάντας έφεραν πίσω στη ζωή τους Sixty Watt Shaman;
Πιστεύεις ότι η ανάκαμψη της heavy rock μουσικής επηρέασε την οπτική σου γι’ αυτό το reunion;
Έχουν περάσει αρκετά χρόνια από το τελευταίο σας studio album. Υπάρχουν σχέδια για κάτι καινούριο;
Έχετε ανακοινώσει μέχρι τώρα ένα reunion show το Μάιο, αν δεν κάνω λάθος. Θα είναι η πρώτη εμφάνιση γι’ αυτό το reunion; Σχεδιάζετε και άλλες εμφανίσεις;
Υπάρχει καμία περίπτωση να σας δούμε live στην Αθήνα;
1. Foghound – Quick Dirty and High
2. Phillip Anselmo and the Illegals – Walk Through Exits Only
3. Melvins – Tres Cabrones

5. Sun and Sail Club – Mannequin
6. Windhand – Soma

Λοιπόν, η τελευταία μου ερώτηση για σένα, ποιος είναι ο “Poor Robert Henry”;
Thanks and All Hail!

ENGLISH VERSION
First of all Jim I would like to thank you for accepting my invitation for this interview, undoubtedly our little conversation will rotate around the reunion!
Right on Chris, it’s my pleasure man.
So Jim, Sixty Watt Shaman are back in action again! What happened and the band splitted up back then?
Starting off heavy huh? We had been full tilt Sixty Watt from 1996 until 2003, no stopping. Recording, touring, rehearsing…..there really wasn’t time for anything else in anyone’s lives and I think that strain showed a bit. Little frustrations start building up. We had been having a lot of label trouble at the time which necessitated us dropping off a headlining European Tour, members were relocating around the country. There were some personal issues, but tell me a band that doesn’t have them. I think at the end of the day we thought it was best to put SWS to bed. The word break-up wasn’t necessarily used, but we needed to part, albeit for a lot longer than any of us probably thought.
So, we can say it was an intermission?
Sure, a very long one…
What was the main reason and the band members decided to bring Sixty Watt Shaman back to life?
Wow…that’s a good one. I’ve been very active in one way or the other with the stonerrock and Doom community (along with pretty much all heavy music in general) since long before and after the “intermission”, as has Chuckrock (original and current SWS drummer), in our various bands and on a personal level as fans. There was A Sixty Watt Shaman myspace page, then a Facebook page (now the Official Sixty Watt page) all formed by fans. That in and of itself was an honor. I was getting messages as were other members from fans and friends around the globe. telling us how much Sixty Watt Shaman meant to them, really stressing how much they wanted the band to reform. We’ve even had a younger generation telling us they have picked up and played instruments with us as inspiration….just amazing, mind blowing things. The possibility of us reforming on a more regular basis always was a possibility, as we have for a few one-offs….but with the constant fan response and push….collectively we all thought it was time. So, basically it’s for the people that have remembered and supported us all these years. The fans!
Do you believe that the rise of the heavy rock scene has affected your point of view for this reunion?
Affected only in the aspect that I think it’s about damn time, lol. I don’t think it really has much to do with our reformation. I do see a lot more appreciation for the styles of music we write and perform….the internet has changed the face of things a lot in the last decade. It’s a lot easier for artists to get their music out there, and at the same time it’s made it easier for fans to pinpoint what they’ve been looking for, scratch that itch. It’s a good thing.
Many years have passed from your last studio album, are there plans for something new?
Good question. We’re keeping it pretty close to the vest on that topic for the time being. I will say that there are new jams in the room that may or may not surface in the live show, I’ll leave it at that for now, lol. As individuals we are always writing and creating…as we are now collectively, in my heart I believe it’s only a matter of time before something new bearing the Sixty Watt Shaman moniker sees daylight. We do have plans for rereleases starting with Ultra Electric. Having just passed it’s 15th anniversary we’re looking to re-master, re-package with new artwork, amd release with demo, live, and unreleased tracks….a deluxe edition. Hopefully the others will follow. Again, nothing is set in stone.
I believe that the fans will enjoy it!
That’s why we’re doing it.
You have announced till now a reunion show on May if I am right, it will be the first show of this reunion? Are you planning other shows?
Yes, some have not been announced yet, so I’m not going to jump the gun on any dates. They will be up soon on our Facebook page. We have just been announced for Desertfest 2014, April 25th thru the 27th in London. Really looking forward to that one…playing with Spirit Caravan again after all theses years, goodtimes.
Now you are saying magic words,Spirit Caravan!
Haha…yeah, I’ve noticed people are getting real excited about that.
Is there any chance to see you live in Greece?
You booking it? Lol.
Unfortunately,no!
We are taking on all offers right now….we’d love to get over to Europe as much as possible…so only time will tell my brother, but it just might happen.
I believe my wish for Santa is to bring Sixty Watt Shaman to Greece!
Well, we’ll see what we can do about that Chris…it’s officially on the agenda!
Ok! Now that the year is passing by, and the whole world’s making lists, i would like to tell me your personal Top 10 records !
1. Foghound – Quick Dirty and High
2. Phillip Anselmo and the Illegals – Walk Through Exits Only
3. Melvins – Tres Cabrones
4. Iron Reagan – Worse than Dead
5. Sun and Sail Club – Mannequin
6. Windhand – Soma
7. Warbeast – Destroy
8. Beezelfuzz – s/t
9. Darkthrone – The Underground Resistance
10. Carcass – Surgical Steel
I’m am forgetting so many bands…this was just off the top of my head (and playlist from yesterday, lol). So many typos…hope you are editing brother…
Well, my final question for you, who the hell is “Poor Robert Henry”?
Damn, never had to answer this one before. It’s about my father, Robert Henry Forrester. Dan wrote the lyrics, from stories I told him…to some riffs I had recently written at the time. Robert Henry was by all accounts, the ultimate abusive, asshole drunk…..and the song deals with my issues growing up in that type of household. Fighting on through, and how much better life got when he died in 1989. It resonates even more now, I’m coming up on one year sober myself…after years of drug and alcohol abuse that culminated in liver failure. It almost killed me, but again I fought back. I’m feeling much better now, lol. In all, it’s a song about hope.
Honestly is a killer song! That’s all from me Jim, thank you again for this chance to chat with us, finish off the interview as you please!
Just want to say we truly appreciate all the support and push to resume from the die-hards, our fans and brother bands throughout the years….we’re back because of you. Thanks and All Hail!
